Once a refugee arrives in America, a brand new challenge begins.


Nearly 1 in 100 people worldwide have been forced to flee their homeland to survive under the threat of religious or political persecution.  Fewer than 1% of them will be resettled. In 2016 alone, more than 1,600 of them came to Chicago. Most of them had no idea how to speak or read English.


 is one of the places where they came to learn. They're still coming.
