Refugees arrive in Chicago eager to learn English to communicate with Medical personnel, store clerks, landlords and other daily contacts. Additionally, these women are unable to help their children with homework, or communicate with teachers, leaving these incredible survivors with feelings of inadequacy. Proficiency in English provides refugee parents with the basic skills to assist their children, and creates better job opportunities.

Language is the road map of a culture. It tells you where its people come from and where they are going.
